Become a Certified IntendED Early Educator.
The IntendED Certification Program.
Our Certification Program offers a comprehensive learning experience for those who seek to master the knowledge and skills needed to implement the top-tier IntendED framework. Upon successful completion of the Program, a certificate signals an understanding of the integrated, intentional teaching pedagogy of this researched-based, internationally-acclaimed methodology. A certified IntendED Educator stands out in the field of early childhood education with unique abilities, knowledge, and a demonstrated commitment to excel as an instructor of young children.
The IntendED Certification provides everything needed to fully and effectively implement the IntendED framework for lasting impact on children — from classroom organization to the development of play-based learning opportunities and a student-centered curriculum. The content of the IntendED Certification Program may be adjusted based on new research to improve student outcomes.
The Program involves a combination of online coursework, authentic assessments of content knowledge, and observable experiences, integrating a variety of instructional strategies for adult learners as they develop a repertoire of the most effective educational strategies for young learners.
Unlike other professional development opportunities, the IntendED Certification Program includes an onsite practicum for training and support at IntendED’s flagship school, the Martin Trust Partnership in Education for Early Learners (TEL), in Brookline, Massachusetts. If an onsite practicum is not possible, talk with us to see if other arrangements can be made.
When attending the practicum, individuals see the IntendED program in action – the classrooms, tools, teachers, and students at work in an immersive environment where they practice their craft with supportive IntendED mentors. Candidates maintain a professional portfolio that demonstrates their attainment of competencies as an IntendED Educator.
The IntendED Certification Program is valuable because it provides a distinctive standard of excellence in the early childhood teaching profession, or as a standard for family, private or community childcare settings. The Program is tailored to the candidate’s context.
The Program also provides a pathway for further professional development and advancement. Certified IntendED Educators demonstrate a commitment to teaching young children along with a willingness to continually improve their practice, no matter the candidate’s role or setting.
Overall, the IntendED Certification Program ensures that young learners receive a high-quality education from individuals who’ve mastered a unique repertoire that has lasting impact on students’ lives.
The Certification Program includes a 6-week online course followed by a 4-week onsite practicum.
